Developer and manager of residential for rent – Watkin Jones – has practically completed on the final part of a significant Build to Rent development – Ravensbourne Place – in Lewisham, Southeast London.

The final building includes 184 units in a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments over 35 floors. Residential amenities include a library, private dining room, games room and cinema – as well as landscaped gardens.

There is also a charging infrastructure for electric cars and ample bicycle storage for residents, which supports sustainable local transport and helps the development to achieve a Home Quality Mark (HQM) 3.5 star rating.

Supporting the Watkin Jones’ Future Foundations ESG strategy, Ravensbourne Place incorporates cutting edge technology and engineering to target reduced emissions, supporting the Group’s sustainability objectives. This includes the implementation of air source heat pump heating for the hot water system, which eliminates the need for gas usage.

Located next to Lewisham train station, the Ravensbourne Place development offers residents both convenient and easy access to central London, with DLR and Southeastern train services on their doorstep. The building also provides spectacular views over the capital and new landscaped areas.

“We are thrilled to practically complete and hand over the final block, Block 1, of the Ravensbourne Place Build to Rent development to our client, L&G. This is our second development completed alongside the highly regarded asset manager. This new development helps to tackle the local housing shortage in Southeast London and together with L&G, we have built sustainable rental homes, offering residents long term value.”

Richard Harris, Managing Director – Group Delivery, Watkin Jones

Ravensbourne Place was built on a former Tesco carpark. It was delivered by Watkin Jones on behalf of Legal & General (L&G), as part of a larger 322-unit project. The phased completion follows the handover of 138 units in September 2023.
