Investor, developer and operator of student housing and co-living real estate – UXCO Group – has acquired Ecla Lille-Lomme, a new co-living project in Lomme, France.

Majority owned by Brookfield, UXCO Group aims to create a co-living scheme for students and young professionals. It represents a total investment close to €92m in partnership with Banque des Territoires (Caisse des Dépots Group – Public Financial Institution) and lending entity Societe Generale.

At Ecla Lille-Lomme, over 18,000 m2 will be spread across three seven-floor buildings and will comprise close to 800 beds in a mix of studios to four-bedroom apartments. Over 2,000 m2 of common areas and residential amenities will include co-working spaces, a bar, gyms, games rooms, a recording studio, library, study rooms, shared kitchens and outdoor equipment.

“After inaugurating Europe’s largest co-living and student residence, Ecla Paris-Palaiseau, and announcing two new Ecla projects in Bordeaux and greater Geneva in 2023, this latest acquisition in Lille demonstrates our capacity to grow our portfolio of unrivaled premium and large residences in France.

“This is a strong milestone for UXCO Group thanks to the support of local authorities together with the attractiveness of our model, which meets the accommodation needs of new generations of students and young professionals.”

Maël Aoustin, Group CEO and President, the UXCO Group Management Board

Ecla Lille-Lomme is designed and developed by the Group’s in-house developer, Océanis Promotion in cooperation with Hurban.

This acquisition is the latest step in UXCO Group’s development. During these last 12 months, the Group has committed over €300m, reaching a total of 15,000 beds and bringing the value of its real-estate portfolio above €1.2bn. This positions the real-estate group as a leader of PBSA and co-living in France through its two brands; Ecla and Uxco Student.

Ecla Lille-Lomme complements the brand’s portfolio of Ecla residences under operation in France, including Paris Massy-Palaiseau, Paris Noisy-Le-Grand and Paris Villejuif. The three schemes secured a €300m refinancing deal recently. Along with Ecla Lille-Lomme, two further residences will open by 2026, in greater Geneva and Bordeaux.

For Ecla Lille-Lomme, UXCO Group was advised by the notary offices C&C Notaires, and the legal firm Gide on the financing. This operation is financed by Société Générale on the advice of the notary Cheuvreux and legal firm Allen & Overy.

Situated in the Lille metropolitan area, the Ecla Lille-Lomme development is the sixth location for the Ecla concept and demonstrates the continued success of UXCO Group’s premium XXL residences.
