Health research focused charity – The Wellcome Trust – announces that it has appointed asset management and operational partner Ringley Group on the South Kensington Estate, which the charitable foundation purchased in 1995. The estate is one of London’s oldest residential portfolios, dating to the 17th century.

Founded in 1936 with the aim to support science that helps solve urgent health challenges, The Wellcome Trust adds to Ringley’s senior leadership team’s experience working with charitable institutions and large estates including the Church Commissioners, Grosvenor and Finchley Charities. The Wellcome Trust’s investment portfolio is valued at £37.8bn, spending over £1bn a year on research that enhances life, health and wellbeing.

“High-quality operational management of assets helps the Wellcome Trust to focus on their core aim of supporting world-class health research. We are pleased Wellcome have put their faith in Ringley to take up the role, which is a further demonstration of our strong and ever-growing reputation amongst the industry’s largest institutions. The appointment also recognises Ringley’s market-leading offer to tenants and leaseholders, which is over 20 years in the making.”

Mary-Anne Bowring, Group Managing Director (MD), Ringley Group

Ringley partners with institutional investors, family offices, and estates to create and implement asset and operational management strategies from site selection through to acquisition, planning, design operations and exit. To strengthen its capital markets and asset management offering, the company announced two senior hires earlier this year.

Powered by its in-house proprietary technology platform, Ringley also works with owners of existing assets to enhance their operational strategies, specialising in the professional rental sectors. Ringley counts Patrizia, Europa Capital, Curlew and Gresham House as clients, managing an £8bn portfolio of over 15,000 homes.

The company also received the We Invest in People Gold Accreditation earlier this year, a leading certification that recognises companies with exceptional people management. This people-centered focus also played a major role in informing Wellcome’s choice of operational partner.
