The UK SFA announces that Managing Director (MD) of VervLife Katherine Rose has been appointed as the Association’s first president.

The new membership organisation has been formed to recognise the distinct benefits and challenges that investing in and operating single-family rental (SFR) brings.

“More people than ever rent their homes, either by choice or necessity. This is due to cost-of-living increases and associated interest rate rises, combined with permanent shifts in the way many of us work leading to greater employee location flexibility. For these reasons amongst others, it has never been more important socially and economically for our industry to get behind SFR with critical mass to up the ante on delivery of high quality, rented houses across the country. Professionally invested and managed houses are the most important contributor in terms of diversity and scale to the UK’s housing mix, and I’m delighted to have been appointed as the UK SFA’s first President. I can’t wait to get started and will be working closely with Richard, our Executive Board and our members, to ensure the single-family rental sector has the voice it deserves.”

The UK SFA will advocate for SFR and unlock commercial opportunities in the sector.

Katherine will work with UK SFA Chief Executive Officer Richard Berridge to finalise the formation of the Executive Board.

“I’ve known and worked with Katherine for nearly ten years in the wider Build to Rent sector. She is a consummate professional in everything she does and now leads one of the most successful and talented third-party operational teams in the UK, with a strong SFR pipeline. Her experience across the living sectors will be invaluable to the UK SFA as we seek to further develop our membership base and do our bit to support the growth of SFR in the UK. Katherine’s deep SFR expertise is particularly suited to the role of UK SFA President and I very much look forward to working with her.”

Richard Berridge, CEO, UK SFA

The board will be responsible for corporate and regulatory oversight and provide strategic advice and support to the CEO.

Katherine is a well-known and highly respected figure in the Build to Rent and SFR sectors, and has long-standing experience in SFR investment, design and operations.
