The Castings Build to Rent development is opening its doors - and rooftops - to residents and the public this month.

Build to Rent community – The Castings – in Piccadilly East, Manchester will open its doors to residents on 16 July 2024 following Packaged Living and CDL Hospitality Trusts (CDLHT) completing the scheme last month. To celebrate the opening, The Castings is hosting a free launch event for the local community and residents on Friday 19 July from 5pm till late.

The event will start in The Castings’ reception area, with hosted tours of the amenities and living spaces. Later in the evening, guests will be invited to make their way up to the 21st floor panoramic roof terrace, which offer stunning views of the city.

The event will have mancunian influence with music from local artists as well as food and drinks from local vendors. Register for your free ticket to attend.

The Castings Build to Rent development

The Castings Build to Rent scheme is owned by Asia-based hospitality trust CDLHT, who also owns the iconic 5-star Lowry Hotel and upscale lifestyle hotel voco Manchester.

The design-led scheme includes 352 Build to Rent homes in a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments.

Prices at the scheme start from £1,180 per month for a studio apartment, £1,310 for a one-bedroom, £1,525 per month for a two-bedroom and £2,165 for a three-bedroom apartment.

The development has been designed by a leading Build to Rent consultant team including Arcadis, Crookes Walker and Curtins. The architecture team within Arcadis drove the project’s strong resident experience and TEN played a crucial role in the interior architecture and design of the apartments and amenity spaces. The contractor for the scheme was Midgard – part of the JRL Group.

Amenities at The Castings

Amenities at The Castings includes a gym and studio, lounges, roof terrace, private dining spaces and a home working hub. There are also three retail units ranging from 400 sq ft to 3,000 sq ft on the ground floor, which will soon provide amenities for residents and those in the surrounding area.

Gym and studio 

The gym at the scheme includes state of the art equipment from Technogym – including a free weights zone, squat rack, cardio equipment and cable resistance machines.

The studio space is kitted out with an innovative multi-use class zone, with virtual instructors available seven days a week.

Home working hub and resident lounge

The home working hub contains 12 desk spaces, three private booths, a bookable meeting room and a media room with an 85” TV and large sofa seating. 

The residents’ lounge features a pool table, a 65” TV and a variety of board games. 

Rooftop and private terraces

The main rooftop terrace at The Castings sits on the 21st floor and offers plenty of comfortable seating and breathtaking views of the city. There are also two other private terraces on the first floor.

Private dining room

The private dining room has a kitchen and is ideal for those looking to host a group of friends or family. The room has a table large seating ten guests plus lounge space for the perfect party setting. 

The location

The Castings is in Piccadilly East – within the city’s most exciting neighbourhood. It is just behind Manchester Piccadilly train station.

Piccadilly East is home to some of Manchester’s most sought-after venues including Co-Op Live, a food, drink & live entertainment venue; Diecast; Ducie Street Warehouse; Blok gym; as well as a host of Manchester-based breweries including Cloudwater, Track and Manchester Union.

The area was named in the Sunday Times coveted lists of best places to live, and sits conveniently adjacent to Ancoats, New Islington and the Northern Quarter.
