In February 2020, the local community and other stakeholders gave feedback on the Watkin Jones Group’s proposals to create PBSA on the Regency Laundry site on the Lower Bristol Road in Bath.
Results showed that PBSA was not the preferred accommodation for the site. The public and local stakeholders showed preference for a residential scheme that meets the needs of younger people who are priced out of the market with more traditional forms of housing in Bath – so a coliving scheme with shared amenities and a community feel.

The coliving scheme will include areas for breaks, dining and recreation. There will also be communal cooking areas, seating pods for residents to socialise, and workstations so residents can work alone or in groups. Each apartment includes a bathroom, kitchenette and desk area – and in communal areas there are other amenities such as secured cycle storage spaces and an area for laundry, but the site will be car-free.

The coliving scheme will be overseen by a management company. Developers say the building will be created with a highly sustainable design which incorporates renewable technologies. Biodiverse roofs and external landscaping proposals will maximise green spaces and enhance the setting of the site.
