Sleep tight at Tipi’s Build to Rent scheme this World Sleep Day

To encourage restful nights, Tipi is embracing the need for more sleep, not least as World Sleep Day approaches on 13 March 2020.

Lifestyle-led rental brand Tipi’s Build to Rent scheme is aiming to balance the buzz of living in London’s Wembley Park with a good night’s sleep for residents. By day, residents have The SSE Arena, Wembley, London’s largest Boxpark, London Designer Outlet, Wembley Stadium and much more on their doorstep. So, it’s not surprising that it can be hard to peel yourself away from the action to unwind at the end of the day.

According to a survey from Aviva, 31% of UK adults report having insomnia, while 67% suffer from disrupted sleep. Between hectic workloads and the always-on nature of modern life, there just aren’t enough hours in the day for catching as many ZZZs as we should – or would like. This can be harder in cities such as London where residents often live in the heart of the action.

So, can Build to Rent living help?

At Tipi’s Alameda building, apartments have both soundproofing and blackout curtains, as well as luxurious and fully recyclable 1000 pocket spring mattresses from John Lewis & Partners, to help residents enjoy a better night’s sleep.

Build to Rent living at Tipi has been designed to encourage relaxation from every angle. There’s a stress-free move-in process with a friendly concierge team on hand, huge hotel-style trolleys for easy transportation and unloading, and a welcome pack containing everyday essentials to help residents get settled in.

“Keeping light dim towards bedtime can help sleep, as can being in control of the temperature of your environment – cooler rooms tend to make it easier to fall asleep.”

Within the new Build to Rent homes, residents can connect their thermostats to their phone through WiFi – which is included in the rent and available instantly from day one. This means that turning the heating up or down can be done on the way home from work or even from underneath the duvet.

The Tipi team has also worked with the neighbouring The SSE Arena, Wembley, and Wembley Stadium to ensure that any screens visible by Alameda residents are turned off or have their brightness lowered at night, to ensure a great night’s sleep.

“City living means increased levels of light exposure which can harm your sleep. Artificial light causes a delay in our natural surge of Melatonin. Melatonin is the hormone that tells our body we are ready for sleep and delaying this evening surge can lead to difficulties falling asleep and shortening total sleep time.”
