Building contractor John Sisk & Son (Sisk) have become winners at the Public Relations Consultants Association Ireland (PRCA) and Public Relations Institute of Ireland (PRII) Awards 2023.
At the awards event held at The Mansion House in Dublin, Sisk won the ‘Best Long-Term Campaign’ for its ongoing PR campaign surrounding the launch and execution of its ongoing sustainability roadmap: Building Today, Caring for Tomorrow.
Celebrating 30 years, the awards are hosted by the PRCA and the PRII to recognise the best in Irish public relations, public affairs and internal communications across the public and private sectors.
“The judges agreed that there was one ‘stand out’ entry. This campaign was an exemplary corporate change programme delivering solid results after three years and embedding environmental sustainability in a difficult and frequently criticised sector.”Awards judges, PRII
Sisk was shortlisted out of over 200 entries into the awards and were the only building contractor among the best in public relations, public affairs and internal communications across the public/private sectors and the world’s leading multinational organisations.
The win follows some of Sisk’s sustainable milestones over the past three years, including extending its fleet of Electric Vehicles (EVs) as part of a €2.8m investment alongside the launch of its sustainability roadmap in 2021.
“We are delighted to be recognised among some of Ireland’s leading public and private sectors. Our 2030 roadmap outlines an ambitious set of targets and actions aligned with UN Sustainable Development Goals. Our in-house PR team alongside our colleagues at Drury PR have supported the business to tell the great stories within Sisk and the significant milestones achieved so far. The construction sector still has a lot of work to do in this space and as a business we are fully committed to achieving our sustainability targets.”Tom Byrne, Head of Communications, Sisk
Other notable milestones include the company’s switch to HVO fossil fuel oil across all its UK and Irish sites, its investment in digital technology and the purchase of Ireland’s first JCB electric telehandler.
Recently, Sisk and HUB topped out at the Leeds-based UNCLE Build to Rent development, another milestone achievement for the company.
