An online public consultation has opened for members of the public to provide feedback on proposals to develop a mixed tenure of homes on a former showroom site.

Developer Watkin Jones Group is seeking feedback – ahead of submitting planning – for their proposals to replace the Dick Lovett BMW and MINI dealerships on Bristol Road in Bath with a mix of Build to Rent homes, student accommodation and commercial space. The consultation will take place online due to Covid-19 restrictions.

The plans for the former site include demolishing it to build around 360 studio, one, two- and three-bedroom Build to Rent apartments, including affordable homes and around 340 purpose-built student bed spaces. It will also have 750 square metres of commercial space and 740 secure cycle spaces.

The site is located on the corner of Lower Bristol Road and Windsor Bridge Road, which is currently occupied by car dealership showrooms. And the site is south of the Bath Western Riverside Master Plan.

“We are looking forward to sharing our proposals for this brownfield site with the Bath community. Our mixed-use scheme offers a variety of new residential homes, commercial space as well as managed purpose-built student accommodation.

“This will help B&NES to realise its aspirations for this key part of the Bath Riverside regeneration scheme as well as helping to meet housing targets for the city.”
