Plans approved for The Gateway BTR scheme

Plans have been approved for The Gateway, a Build to Rent scheme in Manchester to be delivered by Sigma Capital and Kellen Homes.

Manchester City Council has approved plans for The Gateway – a Build to Rent development in Manchester, which will be delivered by a partnership between Sigma Capital Group and housebuilder Kellen Homes.

The Gateway will deliver 272 new Build to Rent homes under Sigma Capital’s Simple Life brand, providing homes for 887 people. Homes include a mix of 172 single-family detached and semi-detached houses and 100 apartments. All homes are pet-friendly and will include fitted, modern appliances, and all houses will have gardens.

Alongside the Build to Rent homes, The Gateway will include 0.82 acres of public green space and a community centre with parking and disabled parking for local people.

The brownfield site is located on the former 13-acre Olympic Freight depot on Bennett Street. Kellen Homes is responsible for the construction of The Gateway, which is expected to take three years to complete – and will create provide 858 construction jobs. The housebuilder has committed to employing as many local people as possible during construction of The Gateway.
