Fiera Real Estate and Packaged Living acquired the Heyrod Street site in Manchester earlier this year. Build to Rent developer and operator, Packaged Living has now submitted planning for a new public square and Build to Rent apartments at Piccadilly East. Subject to planning, works will start in early 2021.

The plans propose 352 new Build to Rent homes – a mix of studio, one, two- and three-bedroom apartments. The scheme includes amenity, retail and commercial spaces which open onto the new square and public realm. The public realm plans – which will be delivered by onsite developers – were approved by Manchester City Council in August 2019.

Plans for the development form part of the Portugal Street East regeneration area, which already includes the Crusader Works by Capital & Centric, the Leonardo Hotel by the same developer and a further two sites coming forward.

The planning proposal has been designed to meet demand for new homes within Manchester City Centre – and it will help enhance the quality of life for the growing population in the area. It will also create new jobs and provide vital investment at an important time.

Environmental and social values are at the heart of the design, with sustainable materials selected to reduce embodied carbon, and a focus on residents’ wellbeing through social amenity spaces, active living and cycling. Amenities include three roof gardens, a residents’ lounge, gym and bike repair workshop.
