Build to Rent provider Placefirst starts on site at the final phase of its award-winning regeneration scheme in Hartlepool, known as The Green. The development will deliver 12 new two-bedroom bungalows for long-term private rent on Rodney Street, marking the completion of a transformational regeneration project.

The new energy efficient bungalows will provide greater choice of a popular house type, in an existing thriving neighbourhood of 86 homes. The single-family Build to Rent homes will be delivered by Placefirst’s in-house construction team following feedback from local residents with regards to answering local housing demand.

The Green is expected to complete in 2024 and will become part of the existing neighbourhood, which comprises three streets of characterful and thoughtfully redeveloped Victorian properties. The regeneration scheme is centred around a communal green space, with each home including high-spec kitchens, heritage features and private courtyard gardens.

The Green has a dedicated resident services manager and residents are guaranteed a fully maintained, high-quality home for as long as they like. The scheme build’s on Placefirst’s portfolio of neighbourhoods located in the North East.

“We are delighted to commence work on the final phase of this key regeneration project in the centre of Hartlepool. It’s pleasing that we will be doing so with our in-house construction team on the back of completing Scholars View and starting at The Oaks in Esh Winning.

“The Green is one of our iconic regeneration projects which has delivered significant benefits to the local area. We look forward to completing the construction of these much needed new build bungalows and seeing residents move in next year.”

Phil Jones, Project Director, Placefirst

Placefirst’s single-family Build to Rent portfolio includes the 116 home Scholars View scheme in Hetton-le-Hole, The Oaks at Esh Winning in Durham, where work started in September 2022 on 89 homes including 54 bungalows, and the Benwell Dene scheme in Newcastle where Placefirst submitted plans to deliver 146 sustainable homes. Recently the company also reported record portfolio growth and portfolio expansion.
