Build to Rent developer – Placefirst – has revealed the initial Build to Rent homes at the £14m Wearside site – on land once home to the historic Easington Lane Primary School. Works began in 2019 and 19 homes at Scholars View – in the heart of Hetton-le-Hole – have now been completed – with a further 22 homes due for completion by the end of this year.

“With us having a long history of refurbishing and regenerating existing neighbourhoods and building stock, Scholars View is an exciting project for us as it’s one of the first we’ve built from the ground up.

“Hetton-le-Hole is a fantastic up-and-coming area with superb commuter routes to nearby cities, so we’re delighted to be playing a part in creating a thriving family community. The transformation of the local area is truly spectacular.”

Once fully complete – which is expected in early summer 2021 – the Scholars View Build to Rent scheme will include 116 homes – a mix of 46 three-bedroom and 44 four-bedroom townhouses and 26 two-bedroom bungalows.

Each of the homes offer modern family living, with practical layouts and stylish interiors. Each home also includes a separate lounge and kitchen, providing families with room to grow. Residents also benefit from communal and private gardens and a pet friendly scheme.

Scholars View is Placefirst’s second Build to Rent neighbourhood in the North East, following its completion on The Green – an 86-home estate in Hartlepool.

“We firmly believe renting can be a long-term alternative to buying a house and feel this development will be warmly welcomed by families wanting the security of moving to a new home for the rest of their life, without the financial pressure of being saddled with a mortgage.”
