Developer and operator Moda Living submits a reserved matters planning application to the City of York Council for a Build to Rent scheme in York. The scheme forms the final phase of the development to be built on the former Heworth gasworks site.
Leeds-based architects – Fuse Studios – designed the four- to six-storey buildings which form the scheme. Detailed plans for over 200 apartments were approved by councillors last year. The latest plans include the delivery of 392 Build to Rent homes – a mix of studio, one, two, and three bedroom apartments. Homes will feature smart technology for monitoring temperature, air quality and light levels.
Amenities include a 24/7 gym and fitness centre, cinema room, private dining rooms and a 24-hour concierge. Residents will benefit from a host of wellness focused services and products – which includes a wellness programme, events programme and fitness app. The scheme will include a new landscaped green space which will also be open to the public.
If approved, works at the 10-acre site could start in early 2023. Alongside the new Moda scheme, North Star and Heworth Green developments will deliver 215 homes and a new neighbourhood park on the Heworth gasworks site following planning approval in November.
“As a Yorkshire-based family business, we are very excited to bring this new generation of rental living to York. We will have a long-term involvement in the neighbourhood and so it is crucial we develop and operate it to the highest standards.
“Our ethos is to put the needs of residents in everything we do and so we offer deposit- and fee-free living, encourage wellness in both physical and mental health and run a regular programme of events for residents, designed around their interests and demands, to build a community they love being a part of. Submitting the plans is a real landmark on our journey to bring this new lifestyle offering to York.”
