Kosy Living is redeveloping the Crown and Sceptre pub – the topic of The Clash’s’ song ‘Stay Free’ – into a new co-living development. The development will be transformed into a new modern and affordable co-living scheme, with the Crown and Sceptre pub being retained on the ground floor.
Located in the heart of Streatham, the development is nestled within the bustling trendy South London suburbs of Clapham, Brixton and Tooting.
Proposals for the listed Crown and Sceptre pub have already been put forward to Lambeth Council. It showcases the architecture by Kosy Design – the company’s in-house design team.
To be the first of its kind in the area, the proposed co-living scheme will use high-quality and locally sourced materials throughout the development. Kosy always aims for a BREEAM Excellent rating – and they have explored several ways that the building can be future proofed in terms of adaptability and sustainability.
Targeted at young professionals, the co-living scheme will provide residents with the opportunity to live in an affordable and social environment. Amenities will include a state-of-the-art gym, co- working facilities and a landscaped bespoke roof terrace. Residents will also benefit from excellent transport links into central London – as well as the abundance of local facilities.
“Kosy Living are excited bring back to life this locally acclaimed public house in the heart of Streatham with its great links to music legends, bringing a new lease of life to the area around Streatham. Kosy Living is once again contributing to the local housing supply and adding life to this bustling community.”Paul Brundell CEO Kosy Living
The Crown and Sceptre pub dates back to 1825. With outcry from locals upon hearing that the historic pub was closing, Kosy Living will inject new life into the pub whilst creating a bespoke co-living scheme around it.
Kosy Living is also interested in speaking with funding and investment partners, as well as acquiring further sites.
