European residential specialist investment manager – Heim Global Investor – has partnered with McLaren Living for its first investment in the UK – a Build to Rent scheme named BeckYard in Leeds.

The investment follows Heim’s launch of a new closed-ended UK residential build-to-core fund targeting £800m of equity commitments, which plans to develop 5,000 new mid-market rental homes across the UK.

Forward funded by Heim, McLaren Living is acting as developer with strong support from West Yorkshire Combined Authority. The partnership combines McLaren’s residential and local expertise with Heim’s expertise knowledge of the residential sector.

The BeckYard development is being fully funded by Heim, with grant support from the West Yorkshire Combined Authority’s Brownfield Housing Fund.

BeckYard is being built by HG Construction. Works have started onsite, and completion is expected in early 2027. 

Located in the heart of the South Bank regeneration area of Leeds, the new scheme will deliver 375 Build to Rent homes in a mix of 200 one bedrooms, 139 two bedrooms and 36 three bedroom homes – split across two connected buildings ranging from 12 to 26 storeys.

Residents will benefit from 46 parking spaces, over 250 indoor cycle parking spaces, and being a 10-minute walk from the city centre.

Significant public and private sector investment is facilitating the development of the area, with 8,000 new homes and over 1 million sq ft of commercial space.
