Get Living have partnered with the British Fashion Council’s ‘Institute of Positive Fashion’, who will take up residency at The Lab E20 in Stratford’s East Village Build to Rent development this September.
The Institute of Positive Fashion’s residency will bring a series of fashion-focused events and activations to The Lab E20, East Village’s new flagship for experiential retail – with its highlight being a live stream of London Fashion Week’s full schedule. Established by the British Fashion Council in 2020, the Institute of Positive Fashion celebrates industry best practice and encourages businesses to create positive change in the fashion industry.
“East Village will be the intersection where creative experimentation and social value combine.”
Caroline Rush CBE, CEO of the British Fashion Council
Opened to the public in July 2021, The Lab E20 – designed and produced by Christopher Raeburn (Founder of Raeburn Design and Global Creative Director of Timberland). The new creative hub is for East Village, Newham and London’s creative industries. The Lab E20 was designed to host Preview, a six month programme of events and immersive experiences developed by Futurecity, as part of the wider cultural strategy for Get Living, with the vision to establish East Village E20, as the gateway to the Fashion District, the residential and commercial hub to East Bank and the Innovation District, while supporting Newham Council’s ambition to become the borough of fashion.
The Lab E20 is in the heart of the East Village Build to Rent scheme – and sits at the epicentre of London’s new creative district with the arrival of East Bank: London College of Fashion, UCL East, V&A East, the International Quarter, Hackney Wick, Fish Island, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Here East and Westfield Stratford City.
The Lab E20 brings together the emerging, local and global innovators in fashion, tech and design to share their principles of sustainable living with the local community. The Preview programme has been designed to address three core themes – designing out waste, regeneration and climate action.
The PREVIEW programme partners alongside the Institute for Positive Fashion and RÆBURN – and includes architectural and sustainable design practice D-Lab; Loanhood, an East London start-up fashion rental platform; The Sustainable Angle, the UK’s leading resource for sourcing sustainable materials, global activist and maker platform Fashion Open Studio (Fashion Revolution) and the Fashion District, a cluster of ambitious businesses, academic institutions and investors in East London.
“Get Living’s partnership with the inspirational Institute of Positive Fashion is another step in the creative evolution of East Village, where we are delighted to provide a platform for organisations and activities that are consistent with our low carbon living values, which absolutely resonates with our Build to Rent residents and all our neighbours.
“The BFC’s support for East Village has been a driving force for the current exciting creative program and a host of future opportunities for our community.”
