Build to Rent developer – Fizzy Living – and payment technology firm – flatfair – have partnered again to offer No Deposit renting. Residents at Fizzy Living’s East16 Build to Rent development in Canning Town will have the opportunity to rent apartments without paying a deposit – thanks to the firm’s partnership with deposit-alternative provider flatfair.

flatfair’s No Deposit solution means residents only pay a small upfront fee, usually equal to a week’s rent plus VAT. The detailed references undertaken by flatfair mean that security can still be maintained for landlords through the market-leading protection the product provides, whilst delivering flexibility to residents at East16. Any damage is agreed upon or adjudicated at the end of the tenancy between both parties before being settled by the resident through flatfair’s end of tenancy platform.

“We’re incredibly pleased to continue our partnership with flatfair and offer deposit-free renting at our brand new site in Canning Town, Fizzy East16. We are constantly seeking out ways to make everything simpler and easier for our tenants, who are at the heart of everything we do. Offering an alternative to the traditional deposit is just one of the ways we’re reinventing renting.”

Harry Downes, Managing Director, Fizzy Living

As well as assisting by making properties more attractive to residents and adding an extra amenity to Fizzy Living, flatfair offers other proven additional benefits. These include helping to successfully identify residents who apply for tenancies using fraudulent information. These issues are often picked up as part of flatfair’s standard compliance checks, potentially avoiding months of frustration and lost rent. According to the company, fraudulent resident applications seem to be a growing trend in Build to Rent and the major UK cities, with these residents looking to sublet properties without the knowledge of the property owner.

“Our partnership with Fizzy Living has continued to go from strength to strength as we work to remove traditional deposits as barriers to entry for renters. By streamlining the process and minimising the hassle of renting, better service can be delivered to residents.

“Pet ownership has rocketed up during the pandemic and we’re delighted to be able to work with Fizzy Living to make it even easier for tenants and their pets to rent.”
