Developer, investor and property manager Hines announces the launch of its new global business unit called EXP by Hines, which has been designed to address the disruptive changes in the built environment.

EXP by Hines is a new business unit that consists of two groups – Global ESG and the Global Venture Lab.

Hines has assembled a leadership team tasked with uncovering new opportunities and disrupting the commercial real estate industry.

EXP represents Hines’ intention to address the current shifts in real estate, experiment with innovative solutions around flexibility, sustainability and other areas that add value for clients, and expedite ESG outcomes for a more sustainable future.

“EXP by Hines is an engine of growth using the most innovative ideas in capital, culture, and environmental stewardship to connect every stakeholder in the built environment and create healthy, activated communities. EXP is looking beyond the boundaries of real estate to solve complex problems while creating long-term value.”

Global Head of ESG Peter Epping will be leading the platform with the aim to create long-term value to the company, by enabling people to thrive in spaces that benefit them and their communities.

The team is currently focused on expediting the reduction of carbon in the built environment and expanding holistic ESG strategies.

Led by Kathryn Scheckel, Hines’ new Global Venture Lab identifies and accelerates ventures, partnerships, and investments that benefit the customers and communities that Hines serves.

It includes an industry-leading combination of a venture incubator for early-stage start-ups and a venture investing arm.

Current priorities include the evolving use of physical space, next-generation ESG solutions and revolutionary built-world technologies.

The announcement and launch of EXP follows Hines’ expansion in the Japanese multifamily sector, due to increased demand the firm is seeing across the sector.
