Scottish Housing Investment and BTR Development Conference

0

The Scottish Government is set to invest an additional £16bn into the Scottish housing sector by 2032, in addition to their support of Scotland’s growing Build to Rent sector.

The Scottish Build to Rent pipeline has increased to over 9,900 homes, with Glasgow making up over half the supply, followed by Edinburgh and Aberdeen.

The Build to Rent sector in Scotland is still in its early stages – but is a growing form of development, investment and choice of home. To kickstart development, in 2019, The Scottish Government invested £30m into the Build to Rent sector from the Building Scotland Fund.

In March 2021, The Scottish Government announced ‘Housing to 2040’ – their first long-term housing strategy. The strategy outlined plans to support up to 14,000 jobs and invest £16bn into the sector in order to deliver 100,000 more homes by 2032 – of which 50,000 will be delivered by 2026/27, and following a mid-point review, a further 50,000 homes by the end of 2031/32.

The plan also introduces an extension to pre-existing retrofit and decarbonisation measures, with the total investment required from public and private sources to decarbonise Scotland’s domestic and non-domestic buildings estimated to be in the region of £33bn up until 2045.

This conference will bring together the brightest minds of Scotland’s housing and Build to Rent sector to discuss plans and opportunities to deliver more housing and innovate communities throughout the nation.
