A new 600 home multifamily project – Soleil Lofts – in Herriman, Utah is providing energy storage as an amenity – the first of its kind. Each of the homes will have a battery linked to an onsite solar panel array. The network of solar powered battery systems – called a Virtual Power Plant – is managed by Rocky Mountain Power.
The batteries – called sonnen ecoLinx batteries provide the 600 Soleil Lofts multifamily homes with an emergency back-up power. It will help manage the demand response for the electric grid and will manage peak energy use. When the development is fully complete, the fully electric project will compromise of 5.2 MW of roof solar panels, 12.6 MWh of residential storage and 104 charging ports for electrical vehicles. The batteries are monitored 24 hours a day – giving peace of mind to all residents.
Soleil Lofts includes one, two- and three-bedroom apartments, and two layout options for studio apartments. All apartments have a washer and dryer, wood grained flooring, 15-foot ceilings, panoramic windows, private balconies and patios and quartz countertops.
Other than this new – and one of a kind – energy storage amenity, there’s also a dog park, an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, yoga studio and fitness centre, three spas, and an onsite convenience store. Residents can also benefit from a basketball, futsal and volleyball court, outdoor kitchen space, and a beautifully featured waterfall and seating options in the landscaped communal garden.
The building is due for completion in December 2020 – but residents began to move in during the latter part of 2019.
