Following its announcement of becoming the first British Interior Design Collective to achieve B Corp™ status, AGC BTR continue to embark on their sustainability journey and introduce the Conscious Collection to the Build to Rent sector.
By AGC BTR
This ‘Conscious Collection’ has been designed by us, as a part of Britain’s first B Corp™ certified interior design collective. It isn’t labelled the ‘sustainability’ collection for a very good reason. You see we’re not 100% sustainable, and that’s a fact. But we’re on our journey towards a more sustainable design future, and so we’re conscious of our every step.
In partnership with the global real estate developers, Ghelamco, we’ve unveiled the collection within The Arc development, an award-winning gem nestled in the vibrant heart of Shoreditch.
The decision to join forces and install within The Arc was instinctive, as this remarkable building is not only fully electric, but impressively holds triple sustainability certifications – BREEM, WELL and DGNB. With 30% lower carbon emissions than other multi-fuel operated developments, it’s hard to not be impressed by the building’s cutting-edge technology which you can read more about here.
In 2022, as part of Build to Rent’s sustainability commitment, AGC, our parent company, conducted a comprehensive carbon audit covering Scope 1 and 2 emissions. To offset our carbon footprint, AGC invested in Forest Carbon’s gold standard re-afforestation projects globally, including Uruguay and Bolivia, and joined the UK-based Carbon Club 50 for tree planting. AGC also set ambitious net-zero emissions goals by 2033, aligned with the Science Based Targets initiative, and emphasised ongoing education and collaboration for Scope 3 emission data collection, demonstrating our dedication to long-term sustainability and climate mitigation through our partnership with Forest Carbon.
Our designers have left no stone unturned in sourcing local suppliers for each furniture piece in the ‘Conscious Collection.’ Our goal is to redefine the way your property is furnished, ensuring that every item is not just beautiful but built to last. We’ve achieved this by using durable, high-quality materials that can withstand the demands of everyday use.
From handcrafted and carbon-conscious pieces to those made from non-toxic, organic materials, our commitment to transparency is evident. We’ve introduced ‘Environmental Icons’ on all of our products, making it easy for you to understand the eco-friendly choices we’ve made in their creation.
