Real estate development and investment group – Dominvs Group – has announced the appointment of Goldman Sachs and multiplex executive John Ko as its new Construction Director. John brings over 25 years of experience managing landmark construction projects in his native Australia and the UK.

John will be responsible for achieving Dominvs Group’s business targets of residential and geographical diversification and expansion in 2021 and beyond. John will be part of Dominvs’ strategy to diversify into the residential market over the next five years – which includes seeking real estate opportunities beyond its London heartland and looking at Build to Rent, private residential, student, retirement and joint venture opportunities around the UK. John’s expertise in project management, safety and environmental matters will help to deliver projects on time, on budget and within pre-established quality parameters.

John’s work as a Development Project Manager began with his role on the Sydney Organising Committee for the Olympic Games, where he was responsible for the development and construction of the 6,000 bed Media Village. Other major projects included the demolition, refurbishment and opening of a 1.1m sq.ft. mixed use retail centre in Sydney for Westfield Corporation and the KPMG Office Tower with integrated fit out in Sydney, which later won the highest Green Star rating in Australia, on behalf of Brookfield Multiplex.
Following a secondment move to the UK with Brookfield Multiplex, John joined the £500m Wembley National Stadium project as the Senior Project Manager. Then as the Head of Design for the UK business, John led the design management of the £570m, 1.8m sq.ft. New South Glasgow Hospital in Scotland, and the 70-storey, £580m 22 Bishopsgate Tower in London – as well as overseeing the mixed use, residential and student accommodation projects.
John joined Goldman Sachs International in 2015 as the Senior Project Director. He was responsible for the construction delivery of the £250m bespoke 8,000 staff campus in Bangalore, India which achieved 12.5m safe man hours without lost time injury. It also achieved LEED Platinum and WELL Gold sustainability ratings. John also worked on the new £400m, 6,500 staff ‘state of the art’ London campus as the Executive Director which was completed under budget and on time.
