Hundreds of new homes are being built on the former site of the Bombardier Railway Works in Crewe, Cheshire. Sigma Capital Group plc – in partnership with Countryside – is developing 131 Build to Rent houses and apartments under its Simple Life brand. Countryside is also building and additional 138 units for open market sale.
The new site has been named Coppenhall Place and will combine 107 three- and four-bedroom houses with 24 two-bedroom apartments for rent. With excellent facilities nearby, this new neighbourhood will be a place where families and professionals can thrive.
“We are happy to be in a position to invest in Crewe, which is seeing a great deal of regeneration at the moment. We’re thrilled to be able to deliver high quality rental homes for the growing local population, particularly on sites such as this, which have been derelict for a long time.
“Our homes are pet friendly and come with high specification fixtures and fittings, with a contemporary décor, allowing residents peace of mind that all the important little details are taken care of, whilst providing them a blank canvas to make their home their own.
“Crewe is famous for its friendly people and is steeped in history, and we will be working initiatives to give back to those people by investing in local schools and the wider community.”
Alec Maullin, Project Manager, Simple Life
The first homes at Coppenhall Place will be handed over in April 2021, with first move-ins expected by May. The entire site is expected to be complete by late 2021.
Simple Life identifies areas which have an undersupply of high-quality rental homes and provide customers with the added benefit of an experienced landlord and professionally managed properties. Some benefits include a maintenance service, flexible contract options, and customers will not have to worry about their homes being sold from under them.
“We are very proud of our partnerships model at Countryside, which not only facilitates a dynamic way of working but also fuels the long-term sustainability of the areas we’re helping to build.
“Through our close partnerships with housing associations, local authorities and organisations like Simple Life in the private rental sector, we’re able to provide high quality homes across a mix of tenures – which we know will meet the incredibly high standards of Crewe’s residents.”
Gordon Innes, Managing Director, Partnerships Manchester and Cheshire East, Countryside
