Single-family homes platform – Casa by Moda – operated by developer operator Moda Living announces a trio of new hires, including new Director. The appointments come as the brand continues to blaze a trail in the UK’s fastest-growing residential market.

Matthew Townson joins Casa by Moda as Director of Development and Projects. Matthew  has over 30 years of industry experience and 16 years at urban regeneration specialist Sigma Capital Group, where he was most recently its Development Director overseeing the identification and delivery of PRS homes across the UK.

In his new role, Matthew will be responsible for the delivery of Casa by Moda’s next generation homes for rent across the UK. Reporting to Chief Executive Johnny Caddick, he will oversee the land management teams along with the planning and delivery of Casa by Moda’s pipeline of 5,000 new rental homes worth in excess of £1bn.

Casa by Moda has also welcomed Peter Crabbe as a Technical Manager and Tim Mather as a Senior Land Manager.

Peter joins from Keepmoat Homes with over 21 years of industry experience, including over a decade with housebuilder Linden Homes. Drawing on his experience, technical and viability reporting, he will be responsible for bringing new sites forward from pre-acquisition to the beginning of construction.

Tim joins from Knight Frank having previously held roles at Allsop and Cortland Group. A chartered surveyor of over 16 years, Tim will be part of Casa by Moda’s Land and Development team. He will work with land owners, developers, and development partners on forward funding and acquisition opportunities across the UK.

The trio of new starters bring the total number of Casa by Moda employees that have joined the business since the beginning of 2022 to 13, as the brand gears up to deliver its pipeline of homes with the backing of leading global institutional capital.

“The Casa by Moda family continues to grow at pace as we gear up to meet the outstanding demand for quality, resident experience-led homes for rent across the UK. I’m excited to welcome Matthew, Peter and Tim to the business. They bring a wealth of experience to our already outstanding team and I look forward to working with them as we shape the future of the UK’s single family homes market.”

Casa by Moda was launched at the end of 2021 and has been growing steadily since, as the business gears up to start construction of its first sites in Yorkshire and the North West. Featuring a mix of one- to four-bedroom homes in predominantly suburban locations, Casa neighbourhoods are designed to meet the outstanding demand for quality, accessibly priced homes for rent.

Leveraging best-in-class resident service, brand partnerships and the latest in smart technology and renewable energy, the platform will provide residents with an exceptional living experience designed around health, wellbeing and community.

With long-term renewable leases of up to three-years available and no upfront deposits, Casa by Moda will provide security of tenure on long-term renewable leases at stable price points, giving residents stability and control in their homes.

The technology-enabled neighbourhoods will connect residents to their communities through a bespoke app, allowing them to manage their lifestyle – from logging maintenance issues to organising a resident book club.

All homes will also be fitted with smart technology sensors which monitor the energy consumption and sustainability performance of the buildings. Moda Living recently launched a new service with the MyModa app developer Spike Global and ESG technology partner Utopi, to help Moda Living residents go green. By accessing real-time data through the MyModa app, residents can keep track of their utility costs and will receive bespoke tips and tricks on making small behavioural changes to keep spending down.

The technology also provides live insights on carbon consumption, enabling Casa by Moda and its residents to monitor sustainable performance of the buildings. Residents will also be able to see real-time anonymous data on their sustainability ranking in the neighbourhoods, generating opportunities for gamifying sustainable behaviours.

All Casa by Moda activity, from development to long-term operation, is guided by Moda Living’s cross-platform ESG Strategy. Designed around the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, the programme includes a roadmap to net zero carbon operations and sets out targets and standards across the business’s environmental, social and governance operations.
