Rented retirement homes provider Birchgrove has recently announced that apartments at its Build to Rent development Pepperpot House are now available to be reserved off-plan, with the scheme set to open in late 2024.

The 52-unit Pepperpot House Build to Rent development in Godalming, Surrey, will contain one and two-bed self-contained apartments for people over 65.

Communal facilities will include a 24-hour concierge service, café/restaurant, licensed bar, wellness suite, library, and a courtyard with a lounge and landscaped roof terrace offering views over Godalming to the Surrey Hills.

Located on Brighton Road, the 1.02-acre plot has been developed on the site of a former Mole Country Stores that had stood empty since September 2017.

As part of the development, the Grade II listed Cowshed at the entrance to the site is also being fully restored to provide two one-bed apartments.

“We’re delighted that apartments in Godalming are now available to reserve. Pepperpot House is regenerating a long-standing site which became commercially unviable, and we’re proud that the combination of high-quality rented apartments, integrated care and extensive communal and support services makes this the first scheme in the local area of its kind.”

Honor Barratt, Chief Executive, Birchgrove

With the success of Birchgrove’s retirement developments, Knight Frank’s latest senior living forecast suggests that the delivery of UK rental seniors housing is set to increase by 160% in the next five years.

The acquisition marks the fifth addition to the Birchgrove portfolio, which comprises of sites in Ewell, Woking and Sidcup in Kent; housing over 170 residents.

Construction of a fourth community in Banstead is currently underway, with sites having also been secured to establish further communities in Leatherhead, Surrey and Chiswick, West London.
