International law firm Addleshaw Goddard re-hires senior real estate partner Catherine Williams as Co-head of its real estate Living business – almost ten years on from leaving the firm. Catherine will lead the Living business alongside Peter Hardy who has been with the company for over 20 years and a partner since 1999.

“Catherine is an extremely high-regarded real estate lawyer who also has a great depth of knowledge about the challenges and opportunities of the Living sector. I worked with Catherine when she was previously with Addleshaw Goddard and am really glad to have her back at the firm.”

Catherine completed her training contract with Addleshaw Goddard and worked with the firm for 13 years. She is highly experienced in leading complex transactions for real estate clients. Catherine previously worked as a partner at Shoosmiths, leading its Living sector business – which she spearheaded and grew significantly – as well as advising on various housing and hotel projects.

“Returning to AG is incredibly exciting: reassuringly familiar but demonstrably a bigger and better firm from ten years ago. I am absolutely thrilled to be back and ambitious to play my part in the further growth and expansion of the Living team.”

Addleshaw Goddard’s Living business oversees all of the company’s work in the international housing market, including Build to Rent, later living, student accommodation and affordable housing. Recent projects for the team include advising Vita on a £191m funding deal for two co-living towers in the centre of Manchester.

The firm has made a significant number of partner hires and promotions in recent years. Since January 2021, it has made six lateral hire partner appointments within its real estate and construction teams, with the appointments of Alex Hirom, Gordon Anderson, Daniel Sweeney, Daniel Woolston, Clarissa Smith and Catherine. Last year the firm invited 20 employees to join its partnership.

Addleshaw Goddard has recently opened four new offices in Dublin, Luxembourg, Frankfurt and Munich and in August reported a gross revenue increase of 18%. The company currently represents 46 FTSE100 clients and has been ranked within the top ten of the Thompson Reuter’s UK Law Firm Brand Index.
