Canary Wharf Group’s residential leasing arm – Vertus – has announced it is launching its first pet-friendly Build to Rent building, 8 Water Street. The development is the second of three new Build to Rent schemes to launch in Canary Wharf.
8 Water Street is a pet-friendly scheme and residents can expect benefits such as tenancy terms to suit their needs, with flexible deposit options and a range of amenities – including family friendly and pet friendly spaces, as well as exclusive events.
“We’re really pleased to announce the launch of our second Build to Rent building in Canary Wharf’s new district Wood Wharf, a vibrant and restful waterside community.
“As the first pet-friendly Build to Rent building in Canary Wharf, we expect to see a strong demand for these apartments as there are very few properties of this quality available on the rental market, which also have the option of keeping pets.”
Alastair Mullens, Head of Vertus
The Build to Rent development includes 174 homes – a mix of studio, one, two and three bedroom apartments. Each apartment has open-plan living and accentuates the natural light throughout, with floor to ceiling windows and either a terrace or balcony. They also include wooden floors, heated floors in the bathroom and high-specification appliances throughout. Furnished by the fantastic new Build to Rent interiors specialists – Accouter group of companies – residents have the option of painting the walls of their apartment, making the place feel like home.
The development has 2,917 sq ft of Club Vertus amenity space – which includes a private rentable dining room, residents lounge and a snug/TV room. It also has shared private gardens and an expansive roof terrace – which is the largest outdoor space in the Vertus portfolio. Both spaces are ideal for giving pets their daily exercise. There will also be a concierge on hand 24/7 to help with residents’ needs.
“8 Water Street is much more than just a pet-friendly Build to Rent building. Much like 10 George Street, 8 Water Street will provide a fantastic experience, exceptional amenities, five-star apartments and a high-quality lifestyle for those who chose to rent with Vertus.”
Alastair Mullens, Head of Vertus
The building – designed by architecture firm Stanton-Williams – has a low-rise character which intimately connects residents to the water and green spaces below. Complementing the exterior aesthetic, the interiors have been designed by Goddard Littlefair – who have created luxurious, yet functional spaces for residents.
8 Water Street, along with Vertus’ first building, 10 George Street set a precedent for Build to Rent developments across the capital; by creating a lifestyle that’s hard to beat in Canary Wharf’s new district – Wood Wharf.
Wood Wharf will house up to 3,600 new homes, 350,000 sq ft of retail space and nine acres of public spaces – adding to the already extensive offering of Canary Wharf. Already well-connected by the Jubilee and DLR lines, the arrival of the Elizabeth line will make Canary Wharf even more accessible.
