Five miles north west of Leeds City centre is a new Build to Rent scheme set to launch by local lettings specialist, Pickard Properties. The development is at The Masons on the Green in a conservation area in Horsforth.
“This is another niche development for us and one that we are very proud to bring to market.
“We expect it to be highly sought after by a range of renters, particularly young professionals and families – in fact, anyone who loves the idea of living in a bustling community with a host of amenities on their doorstep.”Catherine Coleman, Director, Pickard Properties
The focus of the development was The Black Bull Pub – the oldest pub in Horsforth which dates back to 1654. Bought by Pickard Properties in 2008 – and in a poor state – it has been refurbished into a smaller Build to Rent scheme.
“The Black Bull Inn is an important piece of local heritage and a respectful conversion was crucial to ensure that the development massing and detailing responded to and was in keeping with the context of the local street scene along Town Street.Richard Walsh, Director, Halliday Clark Architects
No expense has been spared in the extensive refurbishment of the pub, which has created a modern makeover to assure the building’s existence way into the future.
“We thought long and hard about how to repurpose this wonderful old building and as is our custom, we have taken great care to specify the highest quality materials throughout.”Catherine Coleman, Director, Pickard Properties
“We worked closely with conservation specialists to ensure that both materials and the colour palette were carefully chosen to deliver a fitting next chapter in the long story of this site.”Richard Walsh, Director, Halliday Clark Architects
The Build to Rent scheme will provide five luxury, loft-style apartments – four one-bed apartments on the first floor and a two-bed apartment on the top floor. There will also be three adjoining town houses, gardens and parking, and The Black Bull Inn will continue to operate on the ground floor.
“It is fair to say, we are delighted with the finished product and pleased to have been able to extend the life of this very significant building for many more years, because it has withstood the test of time at the heart of Horsforth’s development over the centuries.”Catherine Coleman, Director, Pickard Properties
