Urban Village Capital has now delivered its latest £14m apartment development in Birmingham after overcoming challenges posed by the lockdown. The development – Knight’s House – was a former office block in affluent Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham. It includes a total of 63 homes – which includes 12 penthouses – and features a mix of one- and two-bedroom apartments. All apartments offer premium designer kitchens, bathrooms and bedrooms – with chrome fittings and laminate wood flooring.
The Urban Village Group announced the practical completion of the development in November 2019 but had to negotiate issues posed by Covid-19 before it could open up to residents.

The finishing touches to the Knight’s House development were completed during lockdown – and the Urban Village Group offered two months’ rent-free accommodation to NHS workers serving in Birmingham’s hospitals during the peak of the coronavirus crisis.
One of the key innovations at Knight’s House is the hyperoptic broadband, delivering connection speeds of up to 1GB. The superfast connectivity will have huge appeal to those who will continue to work from home after lockdown. New residents can benefit from an exclusive broadband package and residents on a 12-month lease qualify for a month’s free broadband.
The Urban Village Group are pioneering the conversion of tired former commercial buildings, turning them into desirable living spaces – and aiding the government’s push for 300,000 new homes each year. The government’s plans have identified Birmingham as a key location as it looks to create a Commonwealth Games Legacy, which the city is hosting in 2022.
The Group has made use of the government’s housing rules – which allow existing offices to be built upwards to increase housing stock. Knight’s House was increased from seven to nine floors to accommodate penthouses.

Knight’s House adds to the Urban Village Group’s growing Build to Rent portfolio – which includes The Old Arts School House in Sutton Coldfield. There are plans to add another 247 apartments next year following the purchase of a landmark office block in the Yardley area of Birmingham.
